ABOUT PORFYRIA

Porfyria Moschopoulou is a pattern designer and textile artist based in Athens, Greece.

Born and raised in Arcadia, she grew up surrounded by the colors, textures, and imagery of the Greek countryside, a visual language that continues to inform and inspire her work today.

She studied Interior Architecture and Decoration at the University of West Attica and later continued her studies in Lisbon, attending courses in design and illustration. She has worked as a textile designer in both Spain and Greece, developing a distinctive aesthetic and a strong visual identity.

Drawing inspiration from folk art and Mediterranean tradition, she explores the motifs and symbols found in traditional textiles, embroideries, and ceramics. Through contemporary reinterpretation, she transforms these elements into new patterns and compositions, where tradition meets the present, and digital processes blend with the handcrafted.

Her work is shaped by a cohesive visual language that unfolds across a wide range of applications, from textiles and garments to art objects and installations.

In recent years, she has focused on developing her own pattern collections and co-founding the clothing brand ANEMUKU.

She currently runs her personal studio in Kypseli, Athens, where she develops new pattern collections and collaborates with brands and creative teams on visual identities, pattern design, and illustration.

Alongside her design practice, Porfyria works as a contemporary embroiderer, exploring embroidery as both an artistic medium and an expressive practice. She also teaches embroidery workshops, reinterpreting traditional techniques and contributing to the evolution of this living craft through a contemporary perspective.
