Workshops

Over the years, Porfyria has taught the art of embroidery through a series of independent workshops. Her vision, however, was to create a living community around embroidery. Since September 2025, she has been leading contemporary embroidery workshops titled “Embroidery in a Circle” in collaboration with the Municipal Market of Kypseli. What began as a single introductory group gradually evolved into an expanding creative community, leading to the formation of both beginner and advanced embroidery circles.

Rooted in traditional embroidery techniques while approached through a contemporary lens, the workshops encourage experimentation, observation, and slow making. Alongside the practical process of stitching, participants engage with embroidery as a living cultural practice through collective discussions, textile references, and visits to museums and exhibitions. Over time, the workshops have grown into an active and supportive community connected through a shared appreciation for textile art, craftsmanship, and creative expression.

A new cycle of workshops will begin in September 2026.
